Black & Yellow Theatre: Lakota/Dakota History and Culture (11:00 a.m.)

Saturday, November 23, 2019

The Rockpile Museum invites you to join us on Saturday, November 23rd at 11am and 2pm for the next installment of “Black & Yellow Theatre: Voices of the Powder River Basin from the Black Hills to Yellowstone.” Native American Educators, Whitney Rencountre and Jessie Taken Alive-Rencountre will be sharing their culture and history through music, dance, and storytelling. In 1990, President George H. W. Bush designated the month of November to be “National American Indian Heritage Month,” since changed by Presidential Proclamation in 2009 to “National Native American Heritage Month.” November is set aside to pay honor to the history, culture, and contributions of all Native American cultures, and to encourage all Americans to celebrate the contributions of the American Indians and urge the peoples of the United States to learn more about the American Indian cultures. The Rockpile Museum is proud to be hosting the Rencountres in celebration of National Native American Heritage Month.
